This has been a busy week. I told you Alysia got sick, well I got sick too. I have had a sore throat all week long. I celebrated my birthday on Tuesday with some friends and today we celebrated Alysia's birthday with a party. We had a total of six kids (Alysia included). Alysia would not hit the piñata, but all the other kids did and enjoyed it. We took pictures, but again I don't know when I will post them.
I got to go shopping all by myself (no Alysia) and got myself some new boots for church (Sharmilla would be proud) and a new outfit. I have to say Jeff likes my boots, but he thinks they are a little to sexy for church :).
On top of being a busy week, Alysia has not been sleeping well, and has woken me up every single night, about 2-4 times each night. Last night was the worst. She woke me up every hour on the hour. She was not sleeping well. I woke up this morning exhausted. I had to take a nap in the afternoon. And all this on top of me being sick :(. Now my sore throat is not the only thing wrong with me. Instead of getting better I'm getting worse . I blame it all on Alysia, I have not been able to get the rest I need to get better.
Jeff and I noticed that Alysia likes to get sick around Christmas time. Her first Christmas we were in Nicaragua and we had to take her to the doctor and she was put on antibiotics. Last Christmas she got sick on her birthday (tummy bug) and this Christmas she got a tonsil infection. I hope next Christmas will be better.
Elena if you are reading, she really likes the toy dog.
Well I will say goodbye and wish you a Happy New Year, since I will probably will not post till till Sunday or Monday or maybe even later :).
Take care and may God bless you all.

My Birthday is Tomorrow
I had a great Christmas weekend. I hope you all did too. Alysia was not so lucky, she got sick. She has had a fever since Saturday and now has a sore throat. We had to take her to the doctor, she is now on meds.
We are having a snow storm tonight. I hope the roads are cleared by tomorrow afternoon. I invited a few people over to celebrate my birthday and they might not be able to make it if the roads are to bad to drive on.
Our computer got hit with a virus and Jeff had to format our computer again. We were able to save most of the important stuff, but not everything :(. This means I will not be able to post new pics in our website for a few weeks.
Take care everyone and God bless you.

Merry Christmas Everyone
It has been a while since I have posted. But what can I say, Jeff was on vacation this week :). We are now done our holiday shopping and we are enjoying staying home and watching movies.
Alysia regressed in her potty training. We are back to using diapers. My doctor said don't let it turn in to a power struggle. Just give in for now and wait for a later time to see if she is more ready.
without planning to I ended up planning a party for my birthday. I had invited a friend over to help me cook some food from her country (Peru). Then somebody else said she would like to come over to eat some Spanish food and I said sure come on Tuesday (my b-day) and now I have more people coming over.
I did plan Alysia's Birthday party. Her birthday is next Friday (Dec 30th). She will be turning 3 years old. I have bought a piñata for her birthday. I will post pics next week for Christmas day, my birthday and Alysia's birthday also.
On a sad note (not really :) ) my favorite employee at Blockbuster is leaving :(. Dee you will know who I'm talking about. Moving to another town :(. Luckilyy I'm making friends with another employee and this should mean I will keep on receiving great customer service. This new friend is giving me a copy of House MD (a series on Global). I kept going in and asking if they had come back yet, and he offered me a copy. He has one at home.
Well take care everyone and May the Lord bless your family this Christmas, and remember the reason for the season (CHRIST).

5 Days till Christmas
It has been a nice weekend. I really missed Toronto on Sabbath. But we were invited to a friends house to eat, so I did not feel to bad :). We have been invited back for next Sabbath for a potluck lunch :).
On Friday, Jeff and I decided that we would not give in to Alysia asking for a diaper. She had not pooped for 2 days (we had not given her a diaper) so on Friday we gave her 1/2 a cup of prune juice to force her hand (we put lots of sugar in it to taste good and we tell her it's medication ). Well she was doing the potty dance like crazy but did not want to use the potty, I fought with her (by this I mean I held her down on the potty while she cried and screamed at me) but she was unable to hold it and finally pooped. Once it was over she was fine :). We figured we would have to do this for a few days till she was finally comfortable, but yesterday she surprised us. I had bought some flushable moist wipes for her. When she saw them she wanted me to open it (I don't think she even knew what they were). I told her when she pooped in the potty again she could use them. She ran to the washroom and peed in the potty, I told her, no, it's only for when she poops in the potty. Well a few minutes later she was pooping in the potty and she called Jeff to come and clean her. I asked him to check if she really did poop, and she had, so I used the wipes. The wipes container has the Disney Princesses on the the side of it, so I figured this is what Alysia liked.
We went Christmas shopping yesterday. We have bought everything but 1 gift. Jeff bought a kit to make a skating rink in our backyard (it's a small one). We also bought Alysia some strap on skates. Jeff bought himself skates (I already have some, my mother-in-law gave me). We are waiting for the rink to fully freeze before we try it out. Once we try it I will post pics and videos of Alysia skating.
Take care everyone and May God bless you and your family.

9 days till Christmas

Alysia and I finally decided to brave the snow. We went out yesterday night in our snowsuits and had fun just walking around the neighbourhood. She really enjoyed playing with the snow and did not want to come back in.
I also made my chocolate cheesecake for Jeff's co-workers today. They are having a gift exchange and lunch together (only about 10 of them), so I was asked to provide dessert (hope I spelled that right).
And for those of you wondering, no I am not preggo :).
I have put up the pics I took while in Toronto on my website. Check out the cute video of Alysia singing like a duck.

Back to Normal

Life is back to normal :). I did almost nothing yesterday but read a book (memoirs of a Geisha). Jeff was surprised that I did not do much, and asked if I was taking a vacation from my vacation, I said yes :). I'm surprised he made the comment. He always says he needs a vacation after taking a vacation :).
I thank all my friends in Toronto for the wonderful two weeks I had there and hope to see you all soon (this mean in less than 2 years :) ).
Well today I finally cleaned my house. So now everything is back to normal. Back to keeping house and caring for Alysia (which is a 24/7 job anyways). But it's nice to be back home.
We had a lot of mail. It's amazing how much of it was from companies or people requesting for donations. Even in my email. We help where we can. No matter how much we help, we can't help all the world.
By the way the book was really good. All I have to do now is to see the movie, see it if lives up to the book.
Dee I only gained 2 pounds :).
I hope you are all doing well and May God bless each one of you.

My Last few day in Toronto
Well my vacation is coming to an end. It has been a good two week. The only bad thing were that my uncle's mother died and to make it worse he had an accident yesterday. He is fine, but the car caught on fire and is destroyed. So for the moment he is driving a Honda 2005. Keep him in your prayers (if you pray).
I really enjoyed Pride and Prejudice. This is one movie I will definitely be buying. If you can read the book first, I really recommend it.
Tomorrow evening I will be visiting the Flores family again. We will be having pupusas (a dish from El Salvador). It's so nice to have friends like the Flores family, where you can feel like you really are with family :).
Sunday Jeff will be leaving in the afternoon for Moncton. I will be leaving in the evening, but not before attending the Kingsview SDA church Christmas banquet :).
I have to say this have been 2 great weeks, and it's all thanks to all the wonderful friends and family I have here.
May God bless you all.

The Love of a child
I few days ago I noticed something very cute that Alysia does. I always try to tell Alysia I love her (even when we are fighting :) ). Well one day I had just put her to bed with a big fight( She did not want to sleep) but this mommy knew that she was tired. Well she finally fell asleep. I came in a few hours later feeling guilty for fighting with her. I leaned over and whispered in her ear "I LOVE YOU". The cute thing is that she answered me back with "I LOVE YOU" even while she was sleeping. I tried this a few other times on other days and she always answers back.

automatic flush toilets should be banned
For any of you who have children under the age of 5, be very careful when you have to use a toilet with automatic flush. Our YMCA in Moncton has them, and it flushed while alysia was still sitting on it. Ever since then Alysia is afraid of any comercial toilets (if they don't look like the ones at home, I call them comercial toilets). I have had to search whole malls for a toilet that she will pee in.
Today I had to take the bus back to bramton. Alysia had not peed all morning (she sleeps in underwear now) and once we left the hotel she would not pee in any of the toilets we offered her.
At finch subway station I held my ground. I was going to wait till she could not hold it any longer. She cried, she screamed, she begged, but mommy would not give in (meaning I would not take her on the bus to go home). She was doing the potty dance and crossing her legs, but she would not give in. After 30 minutes of this, I finally gave in. We went up to the buses, but had to wait for ours. I figured if she peed on the bus in her clothes, she would learn a lesson. Well 5 minutes before the bus arrived, she could not hold it any longer and she gave in. She asked to use the potty :). Once that was over, the bus ride home was much easier. All it took was 45 minutes of fighting with her to use the potty.
So the lesson to be learned in all this is to try to avoid letting your children (under 5) use toilets with automatic flush, in case they end up terrified like Alysia.

Pride and Prejudice
I will be going to see the new version of pride and prejudice with Sharmilla.
Jeff arrived on friday afternoon from the US. He had a red PT Crusir for a rental. My aunt decided to join us at Kingsview church yesterday, since her church was not meeting (world vision needed the rooms for meetings). All the members were going to other churches, so my aunt came with us.
Kingsview is still so formal and traditional in their service. We got out at 2 pm. We had a baby dedication and communion service all in one day. After the service we went to Pam and Melvin Tolson's home for lunch (Yummm). We spent the rest of the day visiting Jeff's cousin (who also lives in Brampton), Alison, and her family.
I forgot, we also spent 1 hour visiting my sister in her home (she wanted to see Alysia), but it was late at night.
It has been a fun weekend so far and I still have all of today to enjoy myself.
Take care everyone and may God bless you.
